Notes
James Hoffmann's improved single cup V60 technique focuses on consistency and clarity.
**Setup:**
Fold filter paper along seam and fit to V60. Preheat with hot water. Put coffee in V60 and make a small hole in the middle of the bed.
**Pouring technique:**
Start pouring in the middle, working around to the outside in a circular motion. Keep the spout close to the V60 so the water stream is unbroken. Gently swirl after bloom and after the final pour.
**Grind tips:**
Go as fine as you can before it becomes harsh and bitter. For lighter roasts use medium-fine; for darker roasts go coarser.
**Temperature guide:**
Light roasts: fresh off the boil. Medium roasts: 90-95°C. Dark roasts: 80-90°C.
